The birth of Smokingboot

Three days ago was Smokingboot's 10th birthday.

This journal has been a great friend to me. Facebook is easy because it's just a thing of scraps and patches, links, photos and chip-ins, but this journal matters much more. It has helped me to achieve some things and understand others. Most of all, it has helped me write on a blank screen, and keep writing. I need more of that practice.

I haven't outgrown it, how could I? Writers do not outgrow writing, and I would be very surprised if writers outgrew writing about themselves. Where experience is recorded, stories grow.

I stopped having a paid account, and I regret that, not just because of the irritating pop-ups but because I can't access all my pics. To some extent, I regret that so many of my chums no longer write, but that's the passage of time and life's business for you. Writing is my life's business, and I have to dedicate myself to it now. This journal has helped me do that. So thank you, little journal. You made it a good decade. Long may you thrive!
