Glastonbury in Spring
Jan. 18th, 2025 11:03 amWhimsy's invited me down, suggesting Spring. There's a worry about energy levels cos I'm wiped out and apparently can look forward to a couple of months of this, but if I can manage, it would be excellent. I could do with walking up the tor again, and wandering Wearyall hill and the chalice gardens, seeing the others at the George and Pilgrim or that place with the name I can never remember, only knowing it's where we always end up. In all my years of knowing the town - and sometimes living there - I never got round to seeing the abbey ruins. We can wander Dion Fortune's Avalon and wait for strange tidings borne on purple-sailed ships from Atlantis, a particularly mysterious prospect given we're at least 23 miles from the sea.
But it's a faffy journey. Flight probably means Edinburgh to Bristol Airport, then Bristol Airport to Bristol Temple Meads for train/bus to Castle Cary, Castle Cary to Glastonbury via broomstick or something. My suspicion is that at least one of these journeys relies on the service to be avoided at all costs, CrossCountry Trains, also known as Satan's Horrible Railway.
So hmm. Pause for thought.
