My favourite Saint

Happy Saints Day, Saint Anthony of Padua!

Those who know me will know I am a pantheist/pagan type. Aphrodite and Brigid, Freya and Erzulie, Ganesha and Christ all have room in my heart. This man is my favourite Saint and has been holding me back from insanity for years. He's the patron of lost things; it is said that if something is mislaid, ask him for help and he will try to get it back for you. You don't have to be 'good' or christian; he really is a special sane saint who will try to help you resist shrieking at the house for hiding your keys. There seems to be no reason why he should do this, and no real connection between his life and lost things (suppose tenuously, lost souls, but I don't know) Some even suggest there's a muddle between him and some other Saint Anthony. I refuse to worry about that. As a person who loses something every time I turn around, I have lots to thank him for. Here's to the gentle and lovely St Anthony.

That explains the missing keys this morning! I always put them in the same place, but I eventually found them today in a totally random handbag.

I am hopeless with keys, though not as bad as I am with cleaning fluids. Found a bottle of detergent in the fridge once. I invoke poor old St Anthony at least once every two days. He must be sick of me!
