Loveliness
Oct. 19th, 2010 03:13 pmWe've had chums around. Summer may be barbecue time, but there's something very nice about a sit down meal as the nights draw in and port by the fire becomes an option. We've been graced by the presences of
ephraim,
november_girl,
caddyman, <
ellefurtle,
bytepilot and the pre-maternally luminescent
thalinoviel. I have learned two things from these experiences. One is the always welcome reminder of how excellent our chums are, and the other is that I have become a total lightweight when it comes to food and booze; combine them with a warm hearth, and I curl up on the floor like Beth Gelert at the hunters feet. Our guests have been too kind to comment on my doggy doziness. Some of them, having quelled a vicious attack from our hatstand then had to struggle through fondue with strange bread. Perhaps this is lesson number 3; Ordinary crusty bread will not do for fondue fun; it just disintegrates under the cheesy goodness. Long french loaves are the solution, and one we'll not deviate from again.
Wonderful nights. Thanks to all for coming, and hopes to all and sundry for more of the same.
