A Very Peculiar Spring

Not on the hottest day in April for what, 70 years or something? I got work done, solid useful work, and then lounged around when it got too hot to do anything at all. The new water feature isn't just interesting to look at, it sounds really refreshing too. And everything was green and blue, bright and good.

My mood changed,though my decision didn't. Until some positive action occurs to me, I won't do anything, because even the well meaning can cause ructions.

Friend turning up tonight, bringing her young'un. This girl is a proper wild child, strong and hardy. I've seen her plonk her backside down in the one bunch of nettles combined with brambles I hadn't removed from the garden, and though she stood up quickly enough, there was a momentary grimace, a kind of thinking it through and then off again racing round the garden, no tears at all. I appreciate it. She is also the kind of child who likes to touch everything.

'Be careful of her with our stuff,' advised my husband, who is still in the West Country looking after his folks due to a family health scare. He will be joining us tomorrow, and though appreciative of the valiant curious little girl, quails to see her hands on the electronics, the glass, the big telescope... I think it will be all right, more than all right. Because it feels like Summer, and that's when everything is good.
