Sunak, strap-ons, and the state of it
Jul. 29th, 2022 11:22 amI do not quite understand why I feel so frustrated. For sure I've decided that post-Covid is the thing I hate most about Covid. Two weeks of something like a horrible flu I can handle, but between 4 and 12 weeks after, with the fatigue and the fogbound brain!
I shouldn't complain, many have it far worse, I know, I know.
I tried to write something, but I am truly drab right now. And politics? I can't work out if observing the present state of our country is hilarious or horrifying. Front runners for running our country include this person, the candidate most likely to be our next Prime Minister:

Her closest rival is this person:
(oh no, wait. In seeking something vaguely interesting about Rishi Sunak, I found myself diverted by the riveting hashtag #PrinceofPegging. I should add that Rishi's not the Prince of Pegging. That monicker is being attributed to the current heir's heir to the throne, whose good lady wife has apparently decided that strap-ons are not for her.)
Here's the thing about Rishi Sunak; he is much harder to detect in the act of imbecility than Liz Truss because he is genuinely not as stupid. He comes out with some real nonsense and a few outright lies, because nothing else is acceptable to our Tories it seems. But apart from being too rich to know how a debit/credit card works, and being a nodding dog for the Right Wing who hate him anyway, Sunak is just another fabulously pleased-with-himself mammon devotee, determined to cut up the country for profit and his mates. A very savvy friend of mine with cavassing experience is convinced he will lose, simply because there's no lack of racism on the doorsteps of Britain. 'Sunak doesn't have our values,' came the refrain he heard, i.e. 'he's brown.' Let's see if my friend has judged aright. I really hope not. There is always the possibility that Sunak isn't a complete dunce (after all, BJ got rid of him, always a tell) but the best and worst that can be said of Truss is that she might be a sockpuppet for others. God help us all if she applies her own miniscule abilities to government.
Now time to get back to the gossip on poor Prince William and his pony pleasures. I neither know nor care really, but at least it's not as depressing as watching the country descend into total kakistocracy.
