Cincinattus
Oct. 22nd, 2022 12:24 pmOh God.
Here we have it from Matthew Parris: https://twitter.com/NathanYeowell/status/1583718058635718656/photo/1
And from me, September 6th of this year: https://smokingboot.dreamwidth.org/964269.html
This is exactly what it has been about all along, it's not a conspiracy theory, nor does one need to be a political genius to see it. What it is, is an obvious play. He's going to work up as much noise as possible via his genuine supporters to make wavering MPs feel that there's a large ground swell of support in his favour, even if there isn't really. They might not want to go against such feeling; they might recall that he is generous to supporters and dismissive of any who do not show utter blind loyalty. They may trust him to convince the electorate again; two years is a long time in politics. They may think that if he's got 100 supporters already, they may as well jump on the gravy train before someone takes their seat. Oh he's no Machiavelli, he's not clever. He's just more clever than they are.
We have friends here, Q a couple of very late night sessions. Went to bed at 3 this morning. Came down to find the kitchen looks even more insanely wrecked than we were. I'm going to have to pull myself together comparatively quickly, going to take a couple of hours to sort out the hideousness.
Wish the same could be said of bloody Cincinnatus.
