Snow!

Not a great morning for putting those lights up outside. Maybe it will melt soon.

And it is pretty from inside. I woke to the insistence of cats, but even before then there was that delectable aspect of Winter, just knowing the outside may be cold, but one is very snug, stretching toes luxuriously under a warm duvet. Last night, the temperature drop reached inside the house, and I put the fire on. Sitting on the sofa with our old boy as he cuddled up, touching his fur to make sure he wasn't cold, I wrapped his special blanket around us both. We were fine.

The day had been excellent, meeting friend in town. We had great intentions of looking around the National Gallery. So much for that! All we did was natter and eat. But then, on the way home, I started to suffer from a very upset stomach, to the extent that I had to commandeer the station toilet for all of 10 minutes. It was that cullen skink, I told myself, cos I hadn't eaten anything else, but here was the thing; the night before, I recorded a dream privately (the details aren't nice) in which I was using a desk hoover thing to clean a bath full of flowing faeces. I can't help wondering if my subconscious was aware of a latent stomach issue. Either this or I have time travelling telepathic bowels.

So, last night, dinner was buttered crumpets and dessert was me feeling sorry for myself. Today, the house is warm, the heating's on, the snow looks lovely and I just don't see the lights going up out there. It looks a bit slack when everyone else on the street is so keen, and they're all up and sorted. But it isn't quite the twelth day yet. Maybe the snow will melt and we can do it this afternoon. Or maybe after brunch tomorrow.
