Swans

Yesterday was a gorgeous day for me. One of the sweetest things about it was this:

I did this for my mum. It made her laugh and she was delighted to see the swans, but then freaked out at the idea of my being in a place she considers lonely/far from civilisation. I'm trying to work out whether she means just this path or the whole of Scotland.

It's grand to see swans again around the lake/loch/pond, a couple were recorded found dead earlier this year, and all the rumours were of avian flu.

Yesterday was very pleasant for me, except for learning that an old friend might have to have her FIV pos cat put to sleep. The vibe I got off her was that life had been tough in a number of ways recently. I have invited her up for the Fringe, and she looks likely to come. The hardest thing about this is choosing the shows to see. I don't even know where to start.

Why do we have companion animals? In the end it's all heartbreak. But there's so much beauty and love in it too, so...
