Difficult day ahead
Jan. 18th, 2024 08:46 amNot the op but probably painful. Won't describe it here yet, only going to freak myself out.
Thinking of what perfume, if any, to wear to the hospital. It interests me that two of the fragrances I find most appealing right now have strong lavender notes, and lavender is calming and soporific. I've got a keen sense of smell, my mother told me that when I was very young I would lift my nose to the air and sniff 'like a puppy,' she said, 'I had to train you out of it.' Thing is, despite the BS, smell is a powerful sense that can calm/energise/warn/warm/soothe; it is more effective with me than music. On the one hand, the right scent will comfort me in that well meaning but uneasy environment, on the other if today goes ill, I may hate the scent forever after. Also, for ultrasound they cover one in some kind of weird jello.
The answer may be to leave it and when all's done, come home and douse myself in comfort and happiness.
