Easter holiday and Chai

I suppose I should try to get some order into my thoughts about the Easter hol, which was spent in a field doing this: http://www.profounddecisions.co.uk/rules/introone.asp It is a strange person who spends four days pretending to be a fantasy Japanese fox maiden in a field full of flintlocks, frockcoats, rubber weapons and latex masks. But then, I never claimed to be normal.

Before I went, I didn't want to pretend to be another person in a fantasy world. I wanted to go exploring this one with no persona other than my own; Alas, poor shallow me! I will have to do that some other time. This weekend was so much fun it pulled me in, like a kid reluctant to play suddenly catching on to the game; I was with a fantastic group of people, and I got to meet,(albeit only briefly) wonderful chums [profile] november_girl, [profile] mamapusscat and [profile] falco_biarmicus. I have been surrounded by excellent company all weekend and my weary heart has been replenished. Many thanks to [profile] littlemiscowboy for looking after the cats!

Plus I made a discovery this weekend:

On site there was this wonderful little hippy cafe, 'Earthheart' which sold lovely organic food and chai.I have never tried chai before. It is this wonderful warming long brewed tea of many ingredients including (as far as I could detect) cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, cardamom...I found myself perfectly capable of drinking 4 mugs of it at a go; 6 would leave me replete. Nothing that tastes so nice can be good for me.

A bit weary but otherwise, I'm OK. Suddenly find myself in need of a black 'duster'coat, a tricorn, a fox mask that doesn't stick to your face like chewing gum in the heat, and three oriental shirts I can wear over leather trousers. Oh, and a recipe for perfect chai.

Nice seeing you briefly btw, your costume looked fantastic :).

And yes I'm suprised that PD doesn't shout more about the Earthheart cafe because it really is the nicest cafe in a field that I've ever seen at a LRP event, it's under canvas and it's open just about 24 hours.

And yes the Chai is really nice isn't it :).

The chai is officially my favourite drink apart from...well, all the others I like!

Glad you liked the costume, Jude made it for me, and she added the most delicate details to it, the obi cord and everything.

Looking forward to having more chances to roleplay with you:-)

Those wonderful hippy people made me cry at the last event. Boo hiss to the hippies! I shall lighten their tent no more!

Catherine was very tired on the Sunday morning. Catherine needed tea. Catherine went to Hippy tent to get tea.

Catherine stood and waited at the counter. Three people arrived after Catherine, and three people got served and went away. Catherine still waited.

More staff came on (Catherine now hopeful that she may get tea soon). Extra staff began to wash up. Catherine bobbed up and down like a pied wagtail in an attempt to attract attention.

Two more people arrived at the counter. Two more people got served. Two more people went away.

Catherine finally thought it was time to say something.

Catherine politely said 'excuse me, I have been waiting here for a while' (note the huge understatement, along with the mild manner).

Militant Hippy (named by others, not me) turned around and berrated Catherine for not being patient. Catherine looked up in horror as militant Hippy made her feel like the most nasty, evil and unreasonable woman in the world. Catherine burst into tears and left - tea-less and thoroughly miserable.

Outrageous!

Must be said that they did seem now and then to lurch between frazzled and stoned. You are very patient. I would have yelled!

I now go to Kings Banquet, who never deny me tea, and always make me smile. Their tent my not be as spangly, and their food may not be as exciting, but then again, they don't make me cry!

Next time I will find you sir, despite playing one of the shyest beings to cross the 'strom...

and suspecting that 10 Good Reasons and the Preceptor may face some radical differences of opinion;-)
