I wanted to comment back to everybody for being so supportive, but I found myself getting weird and weepy whenever I started (I began by answering the lovely [profile] erestania and then found I couldn't go on without turning into Gwyneth Paltrow).

Happy though it has made me (seems to have taken me 24 hours to realise I am happy) this is really a very tiny step. I have a long way to go.

I hope to thank you more warmly in person when I see you. To those of you who have asked for details, you may regret the question; I can babble for England and may well do so until, out of genteelly concealed boredom, you force alcohol/your tongue/someone else's tongue/my own words down my throat in an attempt to shut me up.

Until we meet, little words will have to do. Please accept my heartfelt thanks.

See, now, I didn't express congratulations or the like, because I wasn't actually surprised. I love your writing (hence why I friend your LJ despite barely knowing you) and am not at all surprised a publisher wants to take you on.

But you've had stuff published before, yes? I'm not intending to do you down, just trying to understand why this is a bigger thing than you've previously experienced.

Do you still live in York? If so we really should make the effort to meet up outside of LRP to correct this lack of knowing people properly!

*grins* you say the nicest things! Yes I've had stuff published before, but it has all been based on someone else's work; The Batman I did was written with Pat Mills, whose ideas were very different to mine - the result wasn't something I cared for.

The Games Workshop stuff was based on one of their rp worlds, Necromunda; The Slaine work I did was based on the world Mills had created and the Game of Thrones stuff I did was again, based on George RR Martin's creation. The first was a comic, the others rpg supplementary material.

This is a novel, and it is all my little own, from start to finish, a world I created. Doubtless some will find it interminable because of that (some publishers described it as 'outre'!) but its weaknessses and flaws start and end with me.

Boot mithered - 'I can babble for England and may well do so until, out of genteelly concealed boredom, you force alcohol/your tongue/someone else's tongue/my own words down my throat in an attempt to shut me up.'

Umm, blunt trauma to back of head? Or is that too provincial for a big name author? :-P
Congrats.

Babbling for England is a vital artform and crucial for the well being of the nation. I do it myself as well along with the occasional Rant for England (or about England) which is also a time honoured tradition of this land. I for one would love to hear more details.

Tcha! You traditionalist!

The moment there is more to tell, I will bend your ear extensively with it!

A lot of it is inspired by Richard Dadd's fairy painting 'The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke'. it's about fairies but they're not very nice.

I'm worth a mere tuppence of vodka jelly!

Anyone would think we didn't know a purple dragon with a knack for this kind of thing!
