It's been something like 2 years since we drove up to the wilds of Stratford-Upon-Avon to see
november_girl and
ephraim. We last saw them at the latter's birthday bash in a field this year. Now they have a new house, a 'settling' home; we came, we saw, we were sumptuously fed and watered and conversation, to a background of amazing tunes and wines, carried on til early morning. As ever, when times are really good, it's hard to describe them.
We had a grand evening. Been far too long.
The drive home exhausted us. We got in, slammed some pizzas in the oven and watched The Wrath of Khan; Star Trek II, which seemed to consist of Ricardo Montalban slapping the members of Duran Duran over and over again. How could I not love it? My favourite bit was when Khans's killer warriors all fell down, complete with a close up of the underside of someone's space sneakers.
larians had got the film so we could compare, contrast and cross-refer to the latest offering from the franchise, the Khan reboot in Journey Into Darkness. I like both Khans, Montalban's Mad Max/Shakespearian villain and Cumberpatch's glacial Nietzschenik. I stare at him and see the upper and lower halves of two very impressive faces pasted together. it's not quite handsome but it is memorable.
Today looks like paperwork and practicality. One more hour's indulgence before beginning.
Moment's wildlife: We saw a weasel crossing the road. I have never seen one in my life before. Very tiny and cute!
