The night watchman

I am awake.

[livejournal.com profile] larians is sleeping, but for me there's no mistaking that sound, the slamming of the front door, very definite. So I went downstairs and found that the front door had not been locked - [livejournal.com profile] larians had stayed up to watch the Ashes, and must have forgotten. I had gone to bed early and didn't thnk about it. It's the kind of thing anyone could do, and we are both very tired. I went round checking keys, mobiles, kindle, laptop. Nothing seems to have been taken, though I can't find his wallet, but that may be in his suit pocket, and I'd have to wake him up to search the bedroom. But if his wallet was going to be taken, chances are other stuff would be gone too. Right now he's working very long days. A lie in til 7 is precious.

It must have been the wind or a dream. And I must go back to sleep. Or maybe I should wake him up to check.

I don't know.

That is exactly what I did :-)

How come you don't lock the door when you come in?

I do. But I am inevitably first in , so Russ comes home, unlocks the door and lets himself in, and locks the door after. This time he didn't and I went to bed before him.

I hate that feeling. Hope it was just the wind.

The wind and my dreams, that's all.
