A moment of tiny woo

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being chased by bad boys towards Silbury Hill. In the dream, there was a door in the side, and I ran in, to be faced by a giant with antlers, who gestured towards the door which shut the boys out. He said: you are safe in the land of the dead, and then he repeated it.

Of course, there's no door in the side of Silbury Hill. Earlier this afternoon, on a chum's FB page someone mentioned Maeshowe in Orkney. I never heard of it till today, so I googled it. It's a neolithic cairn of similar shape to Silbury Hill, but it has the door I saw in my dream.http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/06/MaesHowe.jpg

It also has runic graffiti, courtesy of some 12th century vikings.

I like things of this kind. They give me that tingle of a story nearby.
