Elizabethan Artichoke Pie
Didn't happen, because our order ended up as a tin of globe artichoke hearts rather than 350g of Jerusalem artichokes.
Soon I must go hunt out Jerusalem artichokes to go with the grapes, eggs and dates that make up this damn pie. I begin to fear it in the doing and in the eating. As for downtown Lewisham in the rain... almost tempts one to make a chili and have done.
Edited to add: Across the wilds of Woolwich, Lewisham and Blackheath there's nary a Jerusalem artichoke to be found. They exist not, nor are they known. The nearest in appearance are coco yams, and I fear they won't do at all.
I like Jerusalem artichokes. Am I alone in this cold wilderness of better loved tubers?

Number 3 may well be gooseberries, cos it's hard to find them anywhere...

Jerusalem artichokes can be grown in tubs and might be best grown that way so that they don't take over.
