A Dream

There were games in my dream, and people taking pretend sides and girls dressed in silver and white to represent one team. There was teen stuff going on - a girl chucking some guy and reverting to,I don't know, an earlier life. Something about cheating and not cheating. There were strange animals, crosses between otters and beavers and elephant shrews and platypuses (platypii?). A kindly vet told me their name, some kind of strange snouted otter. I was delighted to see so much life. It reminded me that we were near a river, green and lush.

There was a tortoiseshell tabby cat that slunk in, and it had been badly hurt. One eye was red under the pupil, and one of its sides had taken harm from some kind of burn, or something that had distorted/torn most of the fur. I could see each fibre of yellowish/black fur, like a little tube with dark thread through the middle. While it seemed a nice cat with large vixenish ears and a pretty face, it looked as though it could scratch and bite to b*ggery and back. Picking it up promised to prove interesting so instead I asked it if it would follow me to the vet. To my relief it began to do so. I went to the door of one vet which opened, but then a boy appeared. 'Not that one, this one!' He said. The cat went over to him as though it knew him. He put it on a lead and together they went into the nice vets surgery, and I knew in my heart it would be fine.

The rest of the dream was a mix up of anxiety with hints and portents of bad news about my mother, and trying to turn my old dresses into cushions.
