SONNET XIII
He who, of granite, has not built his home
is stranger to the flint of Albion's heart.
Roses and swords are strewn across the stone
With hilts all rusted, though their blades still part
the breasts of children. What a story told!
Valour and Courage, oh,and Liberty
Words to mean territory, oil or gold,
Poisonous apples from a deadly tree.
Who feeds their children to the bayonet
Whilst singing to a flag of love so true?
Long while since potentates did face the fates
They and their masters place in front of you.
Fight if you will, but know the reason why
And if you still believe, then gladly die.
