Much stuff
Feb. 25th, 2016 10:25 amWell, I have learned a lot over the past few days.
Yesterday saw me finally settle down to look at Mark's work and see what I could do. In a way it made me sad because... well just because I guess. There's this body of work, much of it incomplete, and somehow it needs to be seen,to be finished and hopefully to be sold.
I have some ideas with the specific novel he asked me to complete, but the rest of the work? It's great but I can't just take it over, stamping my great me-ness all over it. I am half tempted to take the short stories and poems, all the stuff for which there isn't much of a paying market, and make a website to exhibit them and to generate publicity for any McCann material I can get out there.
Adaptation of the story he specifically wanted to adapt is one thing, changing other texts I am not so sure... But seeing how much of it there is, how fertile and colourful his mind, how much work he created, I become very sensible of the honour and the trust my friend has shown me. This is a very great gift.
Thank you Mark.
