And there came my moment, the way out. I could have denied it.

My defence was no different to any other time I have defended it. I think she's just unconsciously assimilated the info about roll out in the UK and expects me to have had it. Besides, how else would I get to see her ever again?

And it's not just about lying to her, though that is always difficult. It's just such a stupid lie that would inevitably need to be walked back later. So why bother? I didn't.

BOOM!

Well now we have it. She is sending me breathing exercises, banging on about vitamin C and oranges and telling me how imprudent I have been. It is her word of ultimate disapproval.

It's estimated that around 30% of the American public will refuse to be vaccinated. The U.S. now has a vaccine surplus because of this.

I'm gobsmacked by this reaction. I mean, I don't understand it at all.

But then, I am old enough to remember when I had to be vaccinated against polio every year.

Mum's life was saved by the Diptheria jab. When I was a kid in Singapore, I had so many injections I was basically a doctor's dartboard. Then she went strange and here we are.

30% though. That's astonishing.
