Go there about those horrible fans.

Maltese holiday happening soon. Broke it to my mother as practice in telling her news she doesn't like. My reasoning is that once she has got over us not dying catastrophically in Malta, she may bear up with slightly more fortitude when I tell her later in the year about our stay in V&C.

This calculation was wrong; she's doing her nut.

There's got to be some sort of graph I could make of this to remind myself that no way exists of making this palatable to her. Any action at all beyond shopping - and right now, even that - will drive her into fits of terror and I don't help either of us by being honest. The very best thing I can do is contact her with photos from Hanoi when I am actually there. Her shock will be mitigated by pictures, stories, and fait accompli; not enough to stop her going full bat country on me of course. But better than this.

She'd be an amazing anchorite. I wouldn't mind but she wants me to be one too.

Headed to Brum tonight, lateral flow test done, all clear. Wish I wasn't so sleepy though!
