Each day has trouble enough.

smokingbootMy mother is complaining of an upset stomach. Really upset, sounds like food poisoning.
She says she has enough in the house, but right now she can't eat and can't drink. I've told her to stay hydrated, told her to check in with me every few hours, I'll text her.
Most probably scenario: Food poisoning, OK by tomorrow morning as long as she drinks water.
Nightmare scenario: gets much worse, maybe something else, she runs out of charge on her phone so can't contact anybody plus no food in the house. No electricity so can't recharge, no running water (she uses those huge bottles of fresh water you get from supermarkets, pretty heavy to lift for a frail ill person) so can't even be sure to keep her toilets clean. No, she's not so impoverished she has to live in cave like conditions. She has torn out wiring and damaged stuff all because of whoever lives in the walls and is trying to torment her.
Because my mother's head is devoted to making her life horrible for herself and miserable for anyone who cares about her, she has expressly told me not to tell her sister who could, for god's sake, pop round and check on her. No no, too much like positive constructive help. But also, she is afraid of Covid, she's not vaccinated and being a complete idiot about it, she has made herself utterly vulnerable outside her fortress. She won't want her sister there because her sister has had Covid and is vaccinated, and Mum is convinced that having the vaccination effectively infects you permanently with it.
Oh I am so sick of this. And sick with worry too, sick that ordinary life just can't exist around her, sick that, never mind Covid or some strange gut infection, the illness that ruined her life is finally going to finish it off.
She has not picked up my last messages, only one grey tick. God I hope she still has power on her phone.
Right, so that's my panic.
Now to think.
