At The Devils Corner
Feb. 16th, 2023 02:02 pmMore stories last night at the meeting last night. So many local legends, including that of the mysterious Captain Jenks and his three Indian servants, all men/boys who just disappeared in the hills. Captain Jenks was an eccentric fellow; there's some tale about him and part of a field called The Devil's Corner, close to one of the lone standing stones around here. I think it was the Galabraes stone, which I haven't visited yet. Anyway, seems Captain Jenks was having problems with seeding potatoes in the Devil's Corner, because the crows would just come and take them away. So he got some more, and with iron nails, staked them to the ground.
