Turning into an owl

But not just any owl, oh no, up before the sun, I am a crepuscular owl.

Yup, it seems I really am full of crep.

I haven't noticed the same level of activity at dusk so perhaps I am just dilicular though no-one has used that word since the fall of the Roman Empire.

I am woken by the gabbling of thoughts in my head, talky talky talky in the dark. Sometimes the cats are there before the words, sometimes not. In any case, I have just done what may be my most constructive, possibly only, work of the day. No, wait! Two more tasks to do that in theory could wait til tomorrow. But one at least I hope to get out before then.

There's a lot happening today, and at the end of it, R and I are meant to be seeing King King in Edinburgh. I suspect by then I shall be a sugar driven bird.

I think they call us larks. Always 5.30 am for me.

Gerbils are crepuscular but nobody, except you, knows what I'm talking about.

(Wounded sniff) Hey, hey, hey! I know the word "crepuscular"! I annoy people by using it in everyday conversation all the time!

I, too, arise around 5:30 am almost daily. Maybe that's some state property of people who know the meaning of the word "crepuscular."

I loved the word 'twilight' but moody teens and sparkly vampires ruined it for me. Yet another reason to blame millennials ;-)

Larks are cheerful and lovely. I find it hard to picture myself as a lark!

Well, of course, I got the meaning of the word from context, but I decided to look it up anyway, and Google insists it's either Spanish or Urdu.

Took me a while but is to be found under diliculum, 3rd declension not second dilicula.

The only crepuscule I know is the evening one, because if god forbid I happen to wake predawn I will make myself go back to sleep, even if it takes an hour. This is why I can't have pets ever.

I no longer know if my predawn proclivities are my body clock changing or years of training by pets. But I have no ability whatsoever for making myself go back to sleep in the morning. Night is a better bet.
