Long lost herbal lore

...may be long lost with good reason. In the spirit of focused procrastination, I made a quick trip to the weed infested patch out the back. Now, I was told many years ago by a hedgewitch of dubious medication, that Nature has a way of bringing the appropriate plant powers to your door. Clearly I have some interesting issues this year.
Ragwort stalks were thought to be used as broomsticks by witches and elves to fly to their meetings, so clearly my garden is a fairy car park. It's also bad for grazing cattle and horses, their reaction to it giving rise to its other name; staggerwort. So the next time that evil gun-toting rancher drives his steers over my lands, I'll just feed this muck to them and they can totter across the plains until they reach California. Everything has its use.
Good in salads. Make you wee. There you go.
Obviously, when I need to find out if you like butter, I will hold one of these babies up to your lj-icon, and I will know. There's power for you. But don't try this at home under moonlight - don't even touch buttercups under moonlight, or you will learn why it's also called 'Crazyweed.' Beware!
I only had one of these last year, but to my astonishment, there are now loads out there. Rock Rose is used in bach flower remedies 'whenever extreme terror' is experienced including nightmares and dangerous situations. It is said to be useful 'when one is undergoing spiritual disciplines, and suddenly finds oneself confronted with a great amount of archetypal darkness."
Is the universe trying to tell me something?
