Beauty and the Beard
Nov. 24th, 2005 08:54 amWhen I feel no magic of my own, someone else's brilliance lights up my eyes.
With special thanks to
illuminating_dragon, who finds/creates beauty with such ease and generosity, and has sparked me up with many gorgeous manuscripts and illustrations; The dullness cannot sustain itself. I am lifted out of my mode a la crud.
The one below I record here for a number of reasons; first, so that I always remember that there is nothing new under the sun; second because the ladies' waists are so fine, and third, look at that beautiful swaying motion of the pink-garbed damsel, his/her hips slightly tilted forward; that stance is so popular in medieval work, and I wonder if it was down to some kind of underkirtle or corsetry; I have heard that the thrust forward belly was a sign of fertility, but that seems to be reaching. Either way, it is delightful and cheers me on a grey morning.

NB: To all chums If you have tried to contact me via lj and haven't heard back, it's not that I don't care; Lj is still being extraordinarily rubbish.

Date: 2005-11-24 01:36 pm (UTC)Cornetos, possibly stored there untul the interval and the inevitable approach of a buxom wench with a tray hung around her neck.
Medievil equivilent of jumpers for goalposts ?
Badly painted stage scenery covered in glitter and rotated slowly by a concealed dwarf as the two wierd sisters sing "I will survive" ?
Stage one of the detachable skirts ?
