Le Tree

is different this year. It looks like it's made from bits of the grinch.
The cats got excited. Ralik went all feral and sat in it swiping claws at anyone who approached. Surya ran off with the decorations, because they are somewhat feathery, due to being made from real owl-feathers in fact. What I wanted was a shamanic, sort of Yggdrasil tree, deep, sensual, good for meditating under with firelight and darkness. What I've got a green plushy in feather boas. It has a moose in the middle and a scruffy looking owl on one side. It needs a bear.

No masks on the tree this year; last year, it looked all terribly Salieri and beautiful - much more so than this years rather strange offering, but I am tired of masks. Next year, when I am ready to be elegant again, perhaps. Actually no, next year, it is down to [profile] larians to be creative, and I will merely serve by hanging baubles. Hopefully the result will be somewhat less shaggy.

There was a life-size singing plastic santa in the garden centre. He smiles and grooves his hips, and does weird hand jive movements, at least I hope that's what they are. If I were Rudolph I'd be on the run by now.

And in wonderful news, for the first time ever, I am going to be a bridesmaid!

I was a bridesmaid at the age of eight, in a floor length orange and gold brocade gown, matching tiara and gloves. Very early 60s.

Your tree needs a squirrel.

One of our local supermarkets has a Santa like that. He bumps and grinds above the satsuma boxes. Scary.

Once again I have missed the point

Bloke?

Sorry, no caffeine for a week, my brain is a slow muddled thing!

were undoubtedly the funkiest. Gloves were such elegant accessories; no-one seems to wear them now, and it's a real shame.

Wouldn't mind having a sixties tree actually; lots of circles and spirals, flowers and fantastic velvet orientals dangling from it, Nepalese herukas, lots of purple...and for the toys, those little memorabilia plastic dolls of the Beatles, complete with Sgt Pepper outfits, instruments, yellow submarine and blue meanie. Makes me want to undress the tree and start again, though others seem to think my current creation is trippy enough...

Squirrel. Yes. But trying to find one means walking past hot jigging Santa again. He gives me the fear.
