Happy Hallowe'en

Well that was a warm frothy night. Amber Eyes and Sweetest Smile came around and we talked, and it was all very pleasant, a soft evening.

The wind is trying to work up a good wild hunt howl, and the trees are all moving in excitement for tonight. AgnesAlice and Imelda are flying on witch duty above the door to the kitchen, a fudge wand in the hands of each. They aren't smiling exactly, but they feel happy enough.

My pumpkin is a bit abortive this year. Jack looks more like Billyjoejimbob. He started out with fangs on both top and lower jaws. Then I cut one of the top fangs off by accident, and the resulting lone fang was less than imposing. I cut that off, and he looked like some strange kind of gumming monster. I serrated his top lip, and the result remains unconvincing.Beloved Bear thinks the lantern is cool. To me it looks like a cross between President Bush and that lobster/professor thing in Futurama.

Still, tonight is his night to drive demons away, or to do terrible things on his owner's behalf. Here's a quote from one particularly charming spell:

Demon freed from pumpkin seed
Cut and bound in time of need
Come and cut as was agreed

Very Freddy. Bet he won't keep the spawn of the neighbourhood from haunting our doorstep.
