Handfasting
Sep. 17th, 2004 09:52 amMaelstrom today. We were down on site for the handfasting of our friends, but had to come back because Larians couldn't get out of work today. I don't mind. It gives me a chance to record the handfasting before it gets drowned in my head by far less important event nonsense.
I say 'record,' there isn't much to say really, except that perhaps I am more traditional in my practices than I thought. This was a Norse circle rather than a trad Wiccan one, but it still felt beautiful with the wind in the trees, the bride glimmering like a fairy and the groom positively bouncing with ardour and happiness. Beautiful. It is the first night time handfasting I have been part of, its energy very different to those performed in daylight. It reminded me of how long it is since I worked the craft outside under the stars. Feels as though I have been away a long time.
I cannot quite forget it yet. One more cup of coffee and I must get sensible and start packing.
