The sun rises at 4.41 today.

I should be at Stonehenge with the rest of Britain's daft, doped up and decrepid. The last time I watched the sunrise, as I sat against the heel stone, was truly real, and really magical. But like most really magical things, it's not for translation.

I love our house. But there are better places to be this morning, and I so don't want to work. I haven't organised myself at all!

Despite the well meaning attempts of druids and wiccans to make the folklorists' calendar work consistently with actual astronomy, today is not the traditional Midsummer's Eve/Day beloved of fairies. That was June 23rd/24th. But still, I find there is something very special about today, something worthy of celebration. Personally, I am just going to assume that between now and the end of the 24th is Midsummer's Eve. After all, it's the oldest fairy trick, to play games with time.

Great game of Call of Cthulhu last night. It has set me up for the day. If only I could stay awake!

I am trying not to be impressed by this and failing. Admittedly, interests such as 'heights' and 'dowsing,' don't exactly ding my dong. But there are names here of whom I know very little; a quick google reveals that they express themselves in ways that really do intrigue me.

Unless we again begin to tell fairy tales and ghost stories before going to sleep and recounting our dreams upon waking, nothing more is to be expected of our Western civilization.
