There are sucker marks all over the walls.

I have no idea what's happened here, I'm awake cos they smell odd, fungal. I'm wondering if this is some kind of chemical reaction between paint and damp.

They remind me of the weird inflamed circles that broke out on my brother's skin when they gave him penicillin... His temperature shot through the roof, and then he broke out into these sinister welts. That was when he was a kid, before anyone realised he was allergic.

Looks like his wallpaper's come out in sympathy. I don't want to touch the circles with my bare hands, they look furry and nasty. There's a bit under the window where the wallpaper has just peeled away, and the bare wall beneath is kind of raw and palpy...sounds crazy but it looks sore.

This stuff is all over the house and there's some kind of leakage from under the ground floor. The front door looks swollen, the wood's all distended and thickened. More important, it won't open. I've rung the borough emergency environmental offices and they tell me the property may have developed Sick House Syndrome. I can't believe my ears. Apparently I am supposed to feed codeine linctus into the door joints to help soothe the swelling, but I'm not to touch the marks on the walls at all. When I mentioned the seeping liquid on the ground floor, the man at the other end told me the house was salivating, which apparently is a good sign for the house's health, and a less sanguine indication for mine.

They have promised to be around within half an hour, along with their new House Ambulance, created to take sick houses into care. Apparently ours is exhibiting all the signs of being 'on the turn,' and they've given me this link for information purposes:http://boingboing.net/2009/01/13/rabbit-hole-day-janu.html
