Momentary sadness, more delight
May. 22nd, 2011 06:48 pmLittle sadness out of the way first. Poor Blackpool.
On to the delight; a truly luscious wedding at Warwick Castle with a topiary maze, peacocks, calla lilies, seed pearls and gentlemen gamely trying to imitate stallions in the Horse's Brawl. Like an eclipse, my sense of danger doesn't turn up often so when it does, I take notice. I fled the dance and played instead with too-long-absent friends, surrounded by music, laughter, good food and great company.
Sometime around midnight I found myself hypnotised by the view out over the rapids. The river seemed huge, rising away to the sea in the dark while the casement windows glittered, all warmth and life.
I think this may well be happiness.
