Summer Solstice 2014
Jun. 22nd, 2014 11:32 amWent beautifully as far as I can tell. No hassle at Stone Henge, and the thing I was asked to speak at was well marked with bubbly and intoxicants. The night turned into a long fine day, folk supinely baking among the flowers, eating largely melted chocolates and disintegrating loganberries, ginger cake and ice cream, and even a well meaning attempt at the most dismal mojitos ever. The secret, as far as I can tell, is not to use 67% overproof rum for cocktails...or indeed anything really. I came away in the late afternoon, arms tingling in a faint smile of sun's warning. Got to Blackheath, phoned
larians and invited him down for drinks on the heath. And there we stayed, sipping cider while the sun ambled around a good long while. Night came, we got a curry, we came home. Today, I have real swimwear syndrome, burned arms and chest and bright white thick tan lines down my shoulders. I look ridiculous, but ridiculous is fine; though today is staying in day, sun factor big hat.
