Incredible. It took me an hour to fill the dishwasher; crumbling along all coughs and sneezes. Christ.

Leaving the weekend behind, I wish we were back there in a way, Friday afternoon, sunshine and cider, and the two of us just sitting there watching the world. Now I have strange convoluted dreams, someone I once knew showing me a plan or an outline or something, and then the old underground cathedral again...

Time to sleep, but I feel terrible and dizzy, especially after watching Eva Green play a demoniac in Penny Dreadful. Bouncing off the ceiling, biting priestly faces, revealing after-party secrets - kudos to the girl, possession is clearly hard work, and extremely inconvenient, turning up as it does whenever she's about to orgasm. There are so many mysteries, from the almost-sure-he's-a-werewolf American to Dorian Gray's flat fringe, and Billy Piper's Irish accent. I like Victor Frankenstein. He appears to have built a big chubby goth who lives under a theatre. Quite fun really.

Trying to sleep downstairs, where there are more cushions to prop me up, the garage light is flashing on and off like a disco. I go to see what it is, and open the back door... I need to be a little bit more security conscious. But not tonight. A very dainty fox led a smaller version of itself across our back garden. On seeing me,the cub crouched in the grass, rolled over and waggled its tail, then ran to join its parents. The elder stared at me for a moment and tiptoed off through the snapdragons. A third appeared, saw me, and wandered away through the back gate. And the wind blew, and all the trees on the hill rustled together.

I love the night air. Even when I'm poorly it makes me feel good.
