So yesterday ended up a full on shopping day. Got my hair cut, and once again find myself approving of very short hair. Very short, very long, extremes suit me; mid-length to jawbone styles don't, though a decent bob suits everybody.

Almost everybody.

What's in?

Shorts, big time. Eyebrows. Wallpaper print onesies. Floaty tops. Black tie-at-the-belt trousers. Patterns. Go down into Blackheath and it's all soft blues, subtle patterns, greys and whites. Go down into Lewisham and its yellows and oranges and zig-zags and everything a bit brighter, a bit huge and blingy. Blackheath doesn't do bling. Blackheath does money. To look at Blackheath village you would think that the inhabitants do nothing except eat out and buy exorbitant houses. Even the second hand shops are impressive... and Blackheth does have the most dangerous antique bookshop in the world.

Lewisham is Matalans, Tescos, Sainsbury's, poundshops, fish stalls, toy stalls, fruit and veg stalls, butchers with cut price meat, perfume knockoffs, WHSmiths, Boots, Superdrug, Primark, TKMax... you might buy in Blackheath, but you'd always check in Lewisham first, unless too used to the rarified air of moneyland. I haven't done much shopping in Greenwich yet, due to the enhancing effect of the nearness of the Cutty Sark on T-shirt prices. Greenwich is good for alternative classy. The last sweatshirt I bought there had gorgeous little bees all over it, but the cuffs frayed miserably after the first wash.

It's nice to buy things from time to time. Never did like shopping, but on a quiet day in town, it's doable. Also, I no longer look like a she-bear.
