The Dreams of Birds
Aug. 3rd, 2015 09:21 am... Zombicide, Event Horizon and Joss Whedon's Cabin in the Woods.
The last tickled me immensely. The barbeque was fullsome, and I heard about the first LARP that has tempted me in years, 'Ornithocracy,' based on the Dreams of Birds.
It's just finishing, but the sequal is coming out next year, so I might consider it. Apparently it's very beautiful but the mechanics don't really work. Still, that's not the sort of thing I care about. I just want to be in the Dreams of Birds.
I don't want it more than frills and spills in Sydney or Botswana, or small wedding pretties, so if it totals up to sharp expense I won't do it, not least because the phrase 'The Dreams of Birds' resonates with such gorgeousness in my head that it's almost certain to disappoint me.
Weddings and gorgeousness: So here's a thing. I am not photogenic, but I am reasonably telegenic. I really hate photos, to the extent that it is possible I will spend the day fretting about the photography session. Videowork suits me much better. We hopefully have an excellent photographer lined up and I just contacted an old mate who is a great cameraman. Unfortunately the amount he now charges is just too high. It's not skullduggery or anything, I don't doubt it covers a lot of footage and editing, and is very worth it, but it slaps so much more on, considering. For this kind of money I could get the beauty enhancements that might make me feel less insecure, plus an extra pre-session from the photographer, plus more to spend on flowers. Oh, but I do prefer videos. Someone with a handheld camera might do the trick, but they never get to have a good time at the actual wedding.
Gah.
