I thought it might have been in a fight with another fish, or maybe bashed its nose against something hard. The wound was raw and  pink over its nose.

I like corydoras because they do such endearing things, woofling around in the sand for food, frisking, hanging out. Trouble is, all fish are delicate and any wound that punctures the skin can become a real issue - and getting them to the vet, with the temperature drop outside and time spent travelling might be too much for them. So I scoured the net for symptoms, dosed the tank up with every anti-bacterial anti-fungal anti-ich/cottonmouth/finrot/everyandany disease and sure enough  after about two months was delighted when said fishy's strange wound began to close up, new skin growing on his nose.  And he demonstrated lots of happy cory behaviours. The past couple of days he has been staring through the glass at me probably wondering at the giant constantly spying on him through his house windows. He wasn't scared at all.

I just found him dead in proper upside down pose at the bottom of the tank. All he needed was his tongue sticking out the side of his mouth. There is now one remaining  of the original quartet - the group would be around 7 years old, which is pretty good going for cories, so I guess it's possible that poor bruiser died of old age.

Bye Bye Cory. I am sorry I couldn't help more.
