Dreams and Politics
Mar. 12th, 2018 07:54 amPretty gorgeous dreams last night, watching horses swim in the sea. Then I saw children playing among them, and then I joined them. Sometimes I leaped up and watched them swimming from above. There was something too, about a computer application one could use regarding constellations. I was shown Virgo. There were discussions with friends but I don't recall much about those.
The Times has made the claim that the Tory party has been taking donations from Russian oligarchs with strong connections to the Kremlin; these are not illegal, but they are considerable, and indicate influence or the hope for it. I've been following journalistic claims of Russian interference for some time, from Carole Cadwalladr's work to Louise Mensch's meanderings. A strange series of events and outcomes all have one commonality in mind; they are positive for Putin's Russia. I'm by no means a Russophobe but cui bono applies. Of course it won't because Theresa May is about her party not her country.
What she should do, for the sake of us all, is to say that she and her government have looked into the options of leaving the EU and have decided that to do so is actively against the national interest. Then embrace the leadership challenge, then see what happens if it goes to the country. She might be surprised, and of course she might lose everything, but at least posterity might applaud her.Right now she's so despised a dog wouldn't pee on her, and if it did, it might be offered her job.
Meantime it seems that the tories are going after Bercow; there's been an allegation of bullying and it looks as though there will be a vote of no confidence today. Whatever the truth of the allegations, the tories have wanted Bercow out for a long time, the far right in particular taking umbrage at him for refusing to invite Trump to the House. They think that if they flatter him enough, he will give them trade deals that justify their claims to the public about how wonderful Brexit will be.
What a mess. This will be the meat and drink of history students for decades to come, assuming we still bother with history, or even reality, at that point. Maybe it makes sense to dream of Virgo, once identified with the golden-age Astraea with the scales of justice. She lived among men, but became so disgusted with Man's lawlessness she returned to the stars. If stupidity irritates her equally she may even now be strapping danish pastries to her ears and running to a galaxy far far away...
