Here it is: https://www.zoopla.co.uk/overseas/details/27995449?search_identifier=1f8fb965d4d868e18db03251b3f1d93d#O4TbYMgFU0EE1lQz.97

All it wants is the sea, and a few bougainvilleas but I love it without any of those things.
Where is it? The middle of nowhere.

Why aren't we buying it, given the fact that it's ludicrously priced? Cos the commute's such a bugger!

No, there's no drug baron living here, but it looks as though there should be. Maybe my mind is crumbling under the beauty of The Night Manager, by which I mean the locations rather than Tom Hiddlestone. He is a gorgeous creature, but somehow only desireable when he's playing Loki. Or maybe that's just me. His torrid scenes with Elizabeth Debicki should burn the eyes, if only because they are both beautiful but it's all curiously unsexy, and I have no idea why. I wish Tom wouldn't do that thing where he bends his nose up and down against the desired one's face, it's just offputting. Hugh Laurie on the other hand... Oh, I could watch that cold mirth in his eyes for a very long time. Not alluring but very charismatic.

Another beloved child of UK drama, though by no means as pretty, is Benedict Cumberpatch. I've tried watching Patrick Melrose, and it gets one more attempt before I dismiss it. Posh people hurt too, seems to be the message aimed for, lauded and applauded by every posh person who has ever felt pain. Yes, addiction happens everywhere, and the reasons for becoming addicted are not limited to deprived backgrounds, but they certainly add more than stress. The drug-addled rich man may well have as many personal tragedies as the drug-addled poor man, but he is less likely to end up having the shit kicked out of him on the street, or having to flog his arse/rob people to maintain his habit. Money doesn't take the pain away, but it can shield against other pains.

I appear to have wandered far from the house. It is important to remember what I would actually do there, beyond writing and bathing in a pool surrounded by stars and mountains.

The answer is, possibly not much. As hermitages go, it's perfect.
