smokingboot: (good times)
20 years relationship, 4 years marriage, and the latter hasn't broken the former! It's all good so far, though alas, my birthday present has to be postponed til next year. Romania in the Covid red zone. There goes my bear-watching vampire-hunting September! Bah!

But if I'm going to be stuck anywhere, I may as well be stuck here, in this warm friendly house which feels so happy to be a home. Its only drawback is nearness to the pestilential bog that is BJ's government, from which, I admit, I would gladly flee to the heart of Europe. Scotland really deserves to be part of the EU.

We're not really celebrating till tomorrow for mysterious reasons my husband won't share yet. his card tells me he will some day take me back to Venice almost where we began. We've only been there 3 times :-D
Romance never ends, we'll go back, we'll go forward, we'll find old loves and new adventures!

To Us!

Not troubling; Until I start editing again, I'm twiddling my thumbs a bit, so it's time to poke around at ancestry. My Mtdna remains baffling. A few matches to the East of Europe, with names like Plisetskaya and Rubchakova to emerge... Then names like Hirschenfang, Krotenberg, Reznik, Debora, Ester, Rivkah, Chaya, Libba; very glad the Nazis never had this technology. It makes one consider if at some point these people left territories we now call Russia for a kindlier life to the west... Then to look at where they stopped; Ukraine, Prussia, Lithuania. And whether we are related or not, I shudder for their children's children.

Of course there's lots more European stuff too.The closest is some Scandinavian person whose Mtdna matches mine to the extent that we have a 50% chance of sharing a common maternal ancestor within about 125 years, but I find it hard to believe that any of my mother's relatives, no matter how far back, would have parked themselves in the frozen north. Except me of course, but I'm special.

Troubling: My mixed up mate and his crop circles video. So he presented this to at least one FB group, where some believed his footage of 'orbs' and others did not; specifically one other who was very vocal on the matter because he knew the area and immediately identified the street lights being filmed. 'I could do the same myself,' declared the unbeliever, 'and I'll be popping down that way on Thursday, so I'll do it!'*

He went away and came back with his own little video. The content was pretty convincing, and the guy only shot himself in the foot by being so derisive and sneering that people felt disinclined to believe him. He then got locked into an argument with a rival and the real point he was making got lost in a duel de trolleaux. That was very fortunate for my mate cos the video's a strong debunk. Plus my friend admitted some fakery to me, though he walked that back when I evinced disapproval. Added to it was my friends bizarre insistence that his responses in the film were real. It was a strange thing to emphasise, because why would they not be? Why would he need to tell me that?

And now he moves on to Circle Hunters 2, sailing away from his first mess without really cleaning anything up, and trying to get me enthusiastic. I have unsubscribed from his channel, and he was upset about that, he said I wasn't supporting him. I told him that I do support him, but without being any kind of saint, I try to avoid lies if I can. I take real psychic phenomena seriously - there's some very strange stuff out there - but in all our lives, be it material, political, emotional, psychic or whatever, we do not need any more fake stuff. I don't mean mistakes, we all make those, I mean deliberate falsehoods. But I don't know how to approach this without seeming fingerwaggy. After all, who am I to put his life under a microscope?

*Paraphrased of course.
