I do this meme at the end of each year, as a reference for myself, so here goes:

1.What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Stared terrified into a camera and talked to thousands of people. Clapped a great furry mike between my knees and presented a tale of Elvis and foot fetishes. Got a job that makes me laugh, and loved my work from first to last.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Yes, my time management did improve a lot, mainly cos I had so little time to procrastinate. This year I want to spend more time in the gym, get more music in my life, get reels done, lose more weight, write more, in fact just do more of everything, except be ill.
3.Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, Jan without lj gave birth to wee Joshua, aka 'The Mad Professor' with his sticky out hair and incredulous expression. Sweet and funny!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
Scotland briefly, an experience we will be repeating within 24 hours. Here's to hogmanay!

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Reliable health, time to catch up with friends, but not too much time. Fate, keep me busy!

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory?
Yesterday. And my mother's birthday, 28th December.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not falling off my chair.

9. What was your biggest failure?
*shrug* my body is still letting me down now and then. A certain show I forgot to tape.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Only when it mattered!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
The best things were bought for me. I have been wonderfully spoilt. Thierry Mugler's 'Angel' rates pretty highly on my list:-)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Well, this list could go on forever; the courtesy and hospitality of [profile] colonel_maxim and [personal profile] caddyman made the year's work happiness possible for me, with added bonus help from [profile] mamapusscat, and special emergency help from [profile] lisa_shepherd and [profile] _kol! Then there's the maniacs at work who offer me help at every juncture. There's also my friends generally(you know who you are) who make my life worth living, and last but by no means least, the ever astonishing [profile] larians!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Those words are perhaps too strong. Someone misunderstood me to the extent I had to pull away, but we're over that now.

14. Where did most of your money go?
False nails.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Work. More work. Every single moment of work.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Margarita - Sleepy Brown

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? much happier
ii. thinner or fatter? rather thinner
iii. richer or poorer? little bit richer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Socialising with fantastic friends, old and new.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Coughing.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Drunk on champagne!

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Oh yes. With my work, with London again, with beeyooteeful people, with old friends, with my kitties again, with ideas, with [profile] larians...spent the whole year deliriously in love.

23. How many one-night stands ?
None, though there were several one-night sit-arounds-staring-in-wonder-while-talking-stuff. I shared long nights' conversation into dawn with gorgeous souls who all belong on Miranda's isle. Perfect.

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Battlestar Gallactica, though I only got to see it thanks to dvds, really didn't watch much tv this year.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
It's the same old decision not to waste time on the worthless, made easier this year by not having any time to waste.

26. What was the best book you read?
The Word of a Prince, by Maria Perry. Mind you, it was almost the only book I read *hangs head in shame*

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Seriously approve of Amy Winehouse.

28. What did you want and get?
much more than I deserve.

29. What did you want and not get?
Completion on a couple of projects.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Pan's Labyrinth. My favourite film of several years.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 10. Friends took me out for sushi, I got wonderful gifts and a pinata stuffed full of sweets. The sweets have gone, and now the pinata sits by our front door with a William Shakespeare action figure sitting in the gap in his rump. Both seem content.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A total lack of snot.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Primarketable.

34. What kept you sane?
Do believe Messrs [profile] colonel_maxim and [profile] larians deserve the credit for that dubious victory.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
That there Daniel Craig, even if he lacks eyebrows. Blondes don't fetch me as a rule. I'm so embarrassed!

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Don't get me started.

37. Who did you miss?
I kept missing [personal profile] mitchy due to strange schedules! For crying out loud, this must change!

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Have never understood this question, met too many wonderful people to choose between them. I suppose Special Shiny Friend deserves mention somewhere on this meme, as does Genius Puppy, Cool Jed, and Sardonic Eyebrow, but they are not the best(tm), just the ones I saw from day to day and had lots of fun with. Speaking of fun, there's the entire Bakhana crowd, who are just astonishing, fantastic people. Can't forget [profile] hybridartifacts, [personal profile] mitchy and [profile] winggleam, we've only just met but they've still brightened up my year and brought a lot into my life.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Don't let go of dreams. Whatever they are, they can come true when you least expect it.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

It's from that Who Cares thing by Gnarls Barclay.

Feels like... the surreal life
But it's still nice
Wish I could live twice
but I still might
if these bones heal right
I see a little light
though it's still night

Yes, 2006, you've given me a lot of happiness, in a way I never expected, so thanks. Lets keep rolling now, let's race on into the future, and never go back.

Unfortunately, we're not clubbing tonight, cos we're still both coughing and we want to be able to make the journey to Scotland tomorrow.

This is the last time illness is going to control my life to this extent *looks grim and determined. Coughs. Falls over*

Meantime, thank you for the time we've spent being idiots on sleep dep together this year. I really enjoyed it:-)

If I don't see you, here's to your new year X
