I dreamt that twilight had fallen over a beautiful house all white with huge doors and floor to ceiling windows, and in front of me was a gorgeously designed birdcage with a white dove in it. The dove fluttered its wings and sometimes looked as though it was going to try and squeeze out through the bars. I thought I should set it free but was afraid because night was falling and I didn't know if it could survive the cold/predators. I set it free anyway, and first it hopped to the windowsill, then to one of the fences beyond. I found myself outside, watching as it flew slowly upwards into the night stars; it wasn't just a bird, it was some kind of lantern.

Then I turned and looked at the garden around me, only it wasn't night anymore but day, and everything I had planted was growing strong; I had forgotten some things and planted other things too close to them, now old and new were growing together. There were some very delicate little creations there, and some bizarre, exotic ones, all thriving. The effect was untidy, I knew I should rearrange stuff. But at least it was all alive.

And then there was Maelstrom (http://www.profounddecisions.co.uk/rules/introone.asp.) I really enjoyed it IC and if I listed every highlight I would be here forever; Had a brilliant time hanging out with such excellent chums and splendid roleplayers as [personal profile] badmoonrising, [profile] squintywitch, [profile] falco_biarmicus, [profile] chainmaildoug, [profile] cat_that_walks , catching up with the lovely [profile] delvy and those three famed iniquiters* [personal profile] ravenrigan, [personal profile] pengshui_master and [profile] mamapusscat (btw you three, seems the pikeys have been a universal hit, with much praise levelled at them!) to name but a very few.

It was an exceptional weekend for the group; we got much sorted and more to do, and everyone was pleased. My character interacted, discovered plot and also, with the desperate joy of a drowning fox, met a truly formidable intellect. She was beginning to believe they didn't exist, or that stepping onto the shores of the new continent blighted them. [profile] spiraltower's fine acting was surely inspired by the very archetype of rennaisance prince/pope... when he seethed at the memory of his hapless cook's death, I was enthralled; so many complex emotions fluttering across his countenance. Unfortunate then, that I could not catch up with the perpetrator of such a superb depiction, that I missed so many other friends like Mr [personal profile] binidj through finding the temperature unbearable after time out. The downside of the event was the sheer physical misery of it; boiling cloudless heat with a raw wind in the day, frozen muscle cramped nights and a mask that is so irritating to wear, my skin can't bear it for more than two minutes at a time. It's telling that even at this, the best maelstrom I've attended so far, I was grateful for rescue before the final day, because I just couldn't stand the chill any more; [personal profile] ephraim and [profile] november_girl have my thanks for sweeping me off my feet and carrying me away to their warm and hospitable abode nearby. I didn't get to say goodbye to anyone. But another night in such temparatures would have stiffened my shoulders and neck into permanent coathanger shapes.

Other things occurred to me. On sunday morning I found myself remembering that this is a holy time to some, the time of the resurrection, and in and of itself, a time of Spring; I suddenly wanted the real world, I wanted just to go wandering the hills around us and looking at all the green, all the blossoms.

Now time to rest and think.

*Of course it's a word!

i also was glad to see you,

and had wondered where you had got too on the last day, am glad to see your absence was for a good reason,

Its quite difficult to invent a reason to wander up and chat with your character you know, tis a shame, shall try and come up with something truly inventive next time ;)

Good to see you too - you looked really happy at the event - hope J's doing it for you.

Re talking to 10, it's a toughie cos outside of duty, diplomacy and research, she is hopelessly shy. I would never recommend playing that character type at a fest, but the mask made her voice so quiet, it just happened.

Next time we will work out a fine reason for a chat:-)

And nothing to do with a kidnapping as I heard someone (Ceefer I think) allege at some point on the Monday.

A kidnapping would have been funky, but frankly she was in more danger of hurling herself headlong into the maelstrom rift to see what she could find there!
