My boyfriend's birthday happened recently; I bought him an aquarium, and then backed off. None of this was going to be about me, he was going to choose everything, fish, colours, rocks...all his own work. Knowing his love of all things oriental, I was expecting tank pagodas and little bridges straight out of The Mikado, but no. There's only one ornament apart from the plants and rocks and that is a huge purple and yellow striped kraken sitting at the front. How do I know its a kraken and not a normal octopus? Because of the way it is gleefully wrapped around what appear to be the remains of the Black Pearl. Subtle. The monstah's orange eyes follow me around the room. When we finally get fish in this tank, I can guess which corner they'll avoid.

In other matters, whenever I let the cats in via the window, I keep thinking there's a third out there, wanting to come in. Into my minds eye flashes a shape on the windowsill, black and feline...maybe some enterprising moog keeps leaping on to the sill just long enough to catch the corner of my eye, or it's a strangely real memory of Chavcat who used to come visiting, or perhaps the basket of foliage on the ledge is casting strange shadows. Or maybe this caffeine free/milk free/alcohol free diet is doing strange things to my brain...

Well I can vouch that caffeine withdrawl can be quite surreal.

It's the strangest thing, it really is. I am perfectly capable of drinking four cups of coffee in a morning, never mind the amount I get through in a day. Since the first I've had none, and the resulting headache has been quite a revelation. It's going better for me than my last attempt, cos at least the headache disappeared after sleep, but the whole detox thing is very odd.

You have my deepest sympathies, I found ginger tea helped me. Then again my detox was a little more forced after managing to OD on caffeine.

If you let him in when he was alive, I wouldn't worry about it.

Ooh, is there caffeine in ginger tea? If not, I see a way out:-)

Couldn't keep him out! But haven't seen him for a while, hope he's OK.

Nope most ginger tea's are decaffeinated, the strong taste I found made me not miss coffee so much, plus it is a antioxidant

To make a therapeutic ginger tea, grind a one-inch slice of fresh ginger, squeeze the juice of half a lemon, and add to a cup of steaming hot water along with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (like ginger, it is a diaphoretic). If you don't have any fresh ginger, use 3/4 teaspoon of powdered ginger instead.

Wanted to check in on you hon. Haven't heard from you in ages and was a little worried.

Not going to nag about the website - just send me stuff as and when you have it - there's no rush.

*hug*

I don't think he's getting any fish.

I think he already has his own oddly angular creaure of the mind swimming around in there. That's why that cat will not enter the threshold.

Bah I want fishes :(

I might well adopt Russ' fish on a weekly basis until I get my place sorted out enough to install a tank of my own. I miss my fish, they were very soothing.

Maybe Chav Cat was actually called Cathy?

And as for what's up with your brain, I think the BBC have the answer: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7326839.stm

Kraken eh? And this surprises you... why exactly? ;o)

I think it's an Apolyon fixation.

Thanks, I am going to have to try this very soon. How do you know all this stuff?

Great to meet you albeit briefly at Maelstrom btw!

You are lovely.

It's been...extreme, is the only way to put it, like I've been run over by an avalanche. Real difficulties. Still, will get on to this asap!

I'm looking forward to it - but I'm dreading the interest of the dark demons prowling. Destruction is their speciality!

Re Wuthering Chav, if the stranger cat is Cathy which of us is Heathcliff?
