From the glorious arias of La Boheme last weekend to [profile] squintywitch's astonishing account of nightshift in a hospital, art is everywhere. Knackered though I am, it excites and inspires me.

The workchums referred to in my earlier post have just won an MTV award for their ten minute film on knife crime. Here it is;

I am especially pleased for Genius Love Puppy who wants to use his prize money to film a fascinating subject about which he would prefer me to keep quiet. He'd better go for it though, or I will!

Congratulations will be in order the next time I have to haul my sorry carcass into the studio, i.e, this morning. I have been avoiding one colleague because he wants my critique on the film, and though I am very impressed, I wouldn't call it flawless. Now that he has his award and is in no fragile place, I feel more free to poke little holes, less the maiden aunt, more the maiden aunt's umbrella. And I find myself wondering: Could I do as well? Could I do better? I would love to try, though my last adventure with a camera ended with me taking a reel of photographs having forgotten to remove the lens cap. Who decided to make it transparent? Curse their folly!

No, I have to accept I have no photographic gift whatso-bleeding-ever. It's good to remind myself that there's story, Jim, but not as we know it, and learning new ways of telling keeps the brain fresh.

I will bear this in mind as I hit 7.30 am and my third cup of coffee.

I second the comment from thru_her_lens as in all streams of creativity there are different roles because people have different talents. As a published writer, you obviously know how to tell/create a story, thus either writing/directing or performing in the story sound well within your capabilities.

The talented camera man is behind the camera because that is where his innate abilities lie, there is no point asking him to write the script or create the sound scape because that's not what he does, he creates visually. And same for you, just because you might be rubbish at one aspect of production, doesn't mean you couldn't possibly work in the medium.

And I think many of us have been foolish and klutz like regarding lense caps and other such things, it's just one of the events of life that give us funny stories to tell and meant to teach us not to be complacent. Sometimes the learning just takes a while! *grin*

Just because you have other talented people around you, doesn't mean your own talent is diminished or meaningless, it's just another challenge to rise to. If you can imagine it, if you can dream it, if you can desire it, then you can do it. It's all a matter of manifestation of will, and I know you know how to do that.

Deep breath, and go get 'em!

Oh you are so inspiring! Thank you, lovely one!

I agree that other people's talents can only inspire one, I think creativity breeds more of itself in differing forms, though the other night, a loving friend told me in no uncertain terms that 'the Novel is Dead!' and that I should look beyond that art form in future. But that's crazy. How can it be dead if I like it?;-)

Manifestation of will, strange isn't it, I've always regarded myself as somewhat lacking that ability. Guess it's all about focus really.
