Cat update

smokingbootSmiling exuberant thanks to everyone who has commented on my last post and given advice/sent loving cat vibes etc, I woke up to a symphony of trills, meeps and jingling collar bells informing me that little white fairy cat is back to her normal self...she has been playing in the front room with her sister, all memories of the strange dwarf apparently expunged. This morning feels perfect for a pussy cat update.
They are lovely. Little Dervish, black and amber eyed, grows so like Ralik, its easy to mistake them, except his eyes are baleful green. She is clearly going to be bigger than him. She's adventurous, talkative, affectionate, smart...and loves the outside. Whenever I open the back door she's there, meeping and demanding to go out. I'm ever so proud of her, and I suspect she is Ralik's favourite. When she rolls on her back, she flattens her ears and puts her fangs out just like him. Sith cats. Eerie.
Mismatch the fairy cat is sometimes a worry to me. Odd-eyed whites have a reputation for often being deaf, and she never answers to her name. She can, however, sense a fridge door opening from wherever she may be in the house, so any sensory deprivation must be mild or selective. She is very beautiful with uncanny charisma, even for a kittencat. She loves rugby.
Ralik, well there is no getting past it, the demon lord is soft on the kitties. He lets them eat his food, paff his tail and jump on him, and will only show dominion if they bug him too much or try to take his favourite seat. He killed a mouse and brought it in recently; Now, it has ever been the way of our cats to eat their kills, but he didn't. He put it in front of the kitties, who just trotted past. I think he was most disgruntled they didn't pay attention to their first lesson in disembowelment.
Surya is now Lady Cat of the House, part Gloriana part Miss Havisham. She hates the kitties, and will paff them if they so much as look at her funny. Dervish gets out of the way, with a look that says, 'For Now,' in no-mistaking-young-alpha terms, and Mis Match looks worried ...until she forgets. Even as I type this, Surya is sitting on the windowsill while Mis Match crouches beneath her, swiping at her tail. And there it goes! Q hissing race across the front room!

Date: 2009-03-19 12:21 pm (UTC)You recall Lorna? She's got a beautiful Ragdoll male called Kismet, docile and faithful but he's having problems cos she can't pay him as much attention as she did (Baby and all that!) so she's trying to rehome him.
It's so hard. I wish we had a bigger house - or that Surya was just a bit more laid back. All the others are chilled!
