The rules: Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen songs/albums you've heard that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes.

Gates of Eden - Bob Dylan
My Dad singing it to himself, practising his guitar...And there are no truths outside the gates of Eden.

Lollipop Tree - Burl Ives
First album my parents ever bought me

Sugar Sugar - Archies
First song my parents bought me not on Burl Ives' Lollipop Tree album.

Crocodile Rock - Elton John
First record I bought with my own pocket money

Seven Seas of Rye - Queen
First time I knew a band was seriously special - even if Freddy just wasn't all that!

John I'm only dancing - Bowie (both versions)
Getting used to being turned on by singers I just didn't fancy:-(

Dignity/Can This White Boy Sing The Blues? - Deacon Blue
Adam, always!

Shock the Monkey/Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel
How never to mistake God for Sex

More Human than Human - White Zombie
How never to mistake Sex for God. Especially at Jillys in Manchester!

Mad Season (all of it)
Stabface Crew now and forever!

Sweetest Thing I've Ever Known - Lauryn Hill
I can't explain it...

Waking the Witch - Kate Bush
You Won't Burn!

Lungs, whole album, Florence and The Machine
My life right now.

[livejournal.com profile] larians The one and only

1. David Sylvian - Orpheus (my Definition of musical beauty, from 'Secrets of the Beehive')

2. Ultravox - Rage In Eden (only the best album ever made...)

3. David Bowie - Aladdin Sane (my first ever album...)

4. Covenant - Bullet (catchy)

5. John Foxx - No-one Driving (cool)

6. Anything by Van Der Graaf Generator (they seem oddly persistent, once you hear them they infect everything else you listen to)

7. The soundtrack to the film 'Diva' (gorgeous)

8. Hurts - Better than love (in my mind as we are going to see them live soon)

9. Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (classic)

10. Suzanne Vega - The Queen and the Soldier (elegant)

11. Siousxie and the Banshees - Join Hands (a stunning album)

12. Philip Glass - Einstein on the Beach (my first intro to minimalism in classical music)

13. Jethro Tull - Aqualung (another album that just sticks in my head)

14. Keane - Hopes and Fears (fits with my usual mood nicely)

15. Mind In a Box - trilogy of Lost Alone, Dreamweb and Crossroads (listening to this a lot lately)
