I have this. I have always had it. I thought it was normal, I thought this was usual perception until it was defined as a 'thing' on True Detective. Now I know.

It's brilliant...as is True Detective at the moment. There was one close up of MM last night that made me sit up; not his horsey/afghan hound style handsome-ness, which is whatever, but a point at which he was all shadow and age and sinew, ugly-beautiful, and not designed to appeal. Interesting.

My brain has a few problems. But it also has some excellencies. I like it.

There was a fascinating documentary on synesthesia on TV a while back. Scientists refused to believe it was a thing until they found a way to measure it, but people have been talking about their experiences with it for years. What form does it take for you? Colours? Numbers? Tastes?

I don't know to be honest, I am a bit confused, because I honestly thought that this is what we all did/do.

Words have texture always, colours, sometimes. Colours have textures and often sounds. Visuals have texture...

To be honest, I may have to rethink this because I do not know if what is actually going on is a very deep level of subconscious evocation that takes on physical characteristics, kind of feeling a metaphor for real. The reason I think that this is a possibility is because the impressions I get are not always consistent, and that's a thing; mine can and do change, not all of them but some. 5 is often yellow, I can't imagine it being green or white. But five is white, sometimes with a little green or blue. Five is yellow again. I think. I might be over thinking it. / is biro blue for me, generally always. Times inhabit a physical space, but I am bad at defining measurement, so would need someone to help me. Certainly next week is ahead of me on my right, like a place I can take a bus to.

It makes me dizzy to actually try and analyse this. It strikes me that to some extent we must all have it. Why else would we call a certain kind of music, 'The blues?'

I don't have anything like it at all. I think yours is an unusual perception. As for why we call some music "the blues", I think the concept of "feeling blue", i.e. sad goes back to the days when colours were associated with the humours in the body.

It's a fascinating subject, I'm sure there are books out there if you want to read up on it :)
