I'm sure, dear LJ, you recall me telling you a couple of entries back about a purple hallucination I saw in my bedroom. Now I think I know what was going on: The hallucination was a warning from the depths of my psyche which, had it expressed itself in words, would have gone something like this:

'Do not go to the hairdressers on Thursday, or you will come back with purple hair.'

Trust me to get an etheric mime. As it was, I understood it not at all, and went to the hairdressers this morning.

Yes.

Under the lights in the salon, the colour I picked looked wonderful on me, a deep cherry red, utterly gorgeous. And then I went out into the everyday world. Now, when it comes to red hair dyes, you aren't supposed to get your hair wet for 48 hours, cos the hair cuticles /follicles/ bollockles/ something like that are still open and it's not good for keeping the new colour. So thank you, universe, for opening the heavens on me after a morning so bright I never took my umbrella or a hood. Thank you especially for deciding to tip down when I was too far from the village to find any shelter. Thank you for destroying my lovely shiny blow dry hair style and sending me home 'drookit' as a salmon and purple headed to boot.

It's wine purple, not blue purple, but purple it most definitely is.

I am a bit surprised, not least because I like it. Even if it doesn't calm down, it suits me a lot more than those tweeny blonde streaks I've had for years. Maybe I'm a natural grapehead...or maybe the dye has just seeped into my brain.

I liked the blonde streaks. Of course I haven't seen the purple yet!

I am sure that you look fantastic and I love you anyway!

If there are problems tomorrow, we will go back and get them to fix it.

Hmm, the colour seems to be fast on the actual hair itself, but it has seeped off onto my scalmp and forehead and it's not coming off!

Today is just too weird!

I often find that baby oil works to remove hair dye from skin.
