Neighbours

They've gone.

There's much rejoicing among the neighbours; things got acrimonious it seems. Apparently the 'bad family' started putting dog poo through the door of number 64, blaming them for visits from the police. Number 64 blamed Number 62 for stealing their bike (difficult to refute as it had somehow ended up in the offenders' garden) and for stuffing their gutters full of tissue paper. I certainly recall the gent at 64 bellowing terribly at them. Personally I just avoided the whole thing.

I feel for the little boy and the dog, wish I could have been a better friend to them both but for the life of me couldn't see how to do it. Drake's for the high jump one day and there's no reason to believe Jack will turn out better than his parents. The owner of 62 doesn't live there, but rents it out. The neighbours have pleaded with him to let it to 'decent people.'

It makes me cringe - and it doesn't feel good, recognising my own relief that they are gone. I am really sorry about Jack and Drake. I liked them.
