Hair

So there's me trying to experiment with hair ideas for the wedding. My hair is short and in general, hats suit me, so that's one decision made - probably. If it's a hot day, my hair's going to be on show. So then. I have the eyes and hair of my mother's family - Spanish - and the skin and freckles of my father's family - Scottish. She was olive skinned, dark haired and brown eyed, he was yellow haired, pink faced and blue eyed. The result is that I am basically mousey with hazel eyes and a dramatically freckled white skin. I look good with red hair, but red short hair can look like a)Sideshow Bob b) Miranda from Sex and the City or c) a matchstick. Blonde hair looks strawish against my skin, and probably will continue to do so until I go white and my skin fades along with it, at which point my intention is to fulfil all my Billy Idol fantasies and do the whole obvious platinum thing. Meanwhile, back at the wedding, if I wear a red dress, my hair will be better brown, if I wear a green dress, my hair will be better red. So I thought I would experiment with coppery browns and streaks of red/gold.

I now have dark brown hair with lighter bits, and it cost me a fortune.

It might look suitably classy/demure if I go for the whole Audrey Hepburn 50s couture tiny waist/flared skirt thing*. Or it might just be very boring indeed, in need of extra chopping, false eyelashes and a decades worth of drugs** to give it an Edie Sedgewick buzz. I have over a year to work this out, right now all I can decide is that home dying is better as well as cheaper for experimentation.

Comfort is beside me in the shape of a saffron gin. Packing for Glastonbury will commence as soon as I can be bothered.

*'Tiny waist!' Oh, how I make myself laugh!
